I have the latest BIOS firmware on the A8N32-SLI (http://usa.asus.com/products.a...model=744&modelmenu=2) and Windows Vista installed on one of my WD Raptor 74gb drives. I am using the Hitachi as an external drive in a Coolmaster enclosure. For some bizzare reason Windows Vista does not show the hot-plug icon on the tray that you usually see with USB drives. Am I doing something wrong here? I have the Silicon Image 3132 SATA controller and according to Asus's website the integrated adapter supports hot-plug capability. Could this be a Vista issue?

I am still not able to get the Silicon Image SATA integrated adapter to SATA2 speeds. According to Asus's website the SATA card supports eSATA, but when I connect my Hitachi 1TB drive to the external eSATA port and check Windows XP Professional, recently installed it because I though VISTA was the issue it says Curren Transfer Mode: 1.5 Ultra DMA mode 6; Host link Speed: Generation 1 (1.5 Gb/s); Device Link Speed: Generation 1 (1.5Gb/s) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh, by the way, the Safely remove Hardware icon now appears on my tray after installing Windows XP Pro, but my two WD Raptor 74 GB drives appear instead of the Hitach 1TB external eSATA drive.
