If I could enlist a little assistance from anyone using this motherboard and a single core CPU, I would be very grateful.

Please check under Computer in Device manager, and tell me which HAL you are running.

From everything that I've read, this combo should be using;
? Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
This HAL applies to a single processor motherboard with single processor.

But when I try to use this HAL, I run into issues that will not allow the computer to completely power down. The system seems like it will shut down, but the power supply and fans continue to run.

I have that MB with a single core 3700+ and mine says ACPI Uniprocessor PC

I have the same issue as you have but it wasnt a problem until I tried to install Norton Go Back. All was fine with power down until GoBack. I have a Raid 0 array. After installing Norton Systemworks I was prompted to install GoBack. Well I figgured WTH and tried it. During the install the computer did a restart but would not see the array. When I looked into it, the Symantec website sayd that GoBAck is not compatible with a Raid 0 array. You'd figgure there would be a warning but there was none.

Since GoBack alters parts of the boot sector, I think that is the root of my problem. Symantec has provided me with a method of removing any and all files from the boot sector but I'm hesitant to try since when I tried to install it the first time I had to re build the array. My fault for not Fdisking the drives

Now I have about a 50/50 chance of the computer powering down on its own. One day I'll just immage the drive with Ghost and rebuild but it's a pain in the butt and i'm lazy

Thanks for your reply!
It seems that this motherboard operates correctly with the ACPI Uniprocessor PC HAL, which is weird since that HAL is for a multiple-processor board running a single processor.
