I tried making diskettes for the SATA and RAID sli drivers from the ASUS CD, and hit f6 and fed the diskettes but Windows still says it doesn't see any drives.

I've seen similar posts, but no conclusive answer (I've seen people post you have to do the F6 "thing", but they haven't been explicit about which drivers to install at F6, nor has anybody answered [that I've seen] that this has actually worked for them).

Anybody?
It would be much appreciated!

How frustrating after spending almost two hours trying to dig up some old working diskette drives!-(

YAMO!

Here is my 20% rig (most parts bought 20% off at Microcenter!-)
AMD 64 x2 4400
eVGA 6800GS (I'm not made of money, dual 7800's will be next christmas, maybe!)
Cooler Master Stacker
Zalman 9500 CPU Fan
2*1Gb Geil RAM (Hey, I said I'm not made of money, I expect to buy 2 more soon if the board will take it, anybody try 4Gb of Geil [the cheap version]?)

BTW out of the box, with sides off I had 36/35 (CPU MB) temps, but when I moved room and put one side on, temps jumped to 43/42... kind of surprising. The ambient room temperature was higher in the second room but even so...?!

Now if I could only get Windows 80% installed...

Ok, the key is not the Sil drivers but the nvidia drivers which as far as I can tell aren't on the Asus CD.

Download the kit from nvidia on another machine, copy the raid folder (default location: "C:\NVIDIA\nForceWin2KXP\6.70\IDE\WinXP\sataraid") to a floppy, F6 at start of Windows install, then insert that floppy when prompted.

Maybe now I'll run into the reboot problem others have mentioned but at least my Windows install is continuing (although I just accepted defaults to install into a single partition 490Gb raid 0 drive... hmmm, I expect I'll be reconfiguring the system this weekend!-P).
