I am wondering what the PEG Link mode does on this motherboard. Is it an Asus unique feature or across the whole AMD platform? I searched the forums and can find very little about it. After doing the recommended Isolate and Consolidate process and discovering all the max speeds of my individual parts I would put them together and test my final overclock and everytime I put them together the system is not 100% stable. But now since I disabled PEG Link mode the system seems 100% stable, no more tiny artifacts in CS:S and such.

So What is PEG Link Mode and does it hurt to have it disabled?

PEG mode is like a default overclock mode for your video cards. It provides a PCI-e bus boost to try and maximize video, but instead it just causes random flickering and weird artifacts. It sucks. I recommend disabling it.

Thank you for the quick reply :D
I've been struggling with this motherboard for a while now. With PEG Link disabled everything seems perfectly stable and flicker free :D

Always disable that pesky ASUS PEG Link. Nothing but a headache. Dunno what it exactly does these days but in the past it used to OC your video cards without your knowledge. For some reason that overclock (even though it's lower than what I could manually get) was never stable and caused artifacts. That and the AI Booster / PC Probe. I don't even install it. Their programmers got to be real moron. I couldn't figure out why my system hung once every while and the event viewer shows unidentifiable erros/warnings - turned out because I installed them on D: drive instead of C:. WTF. Installed on C: then system's fine but I just uninstalled everything ASUS. I wish they spent more resources on building real, I mean, real solid (inside and outside) boards instead of adding useless stuff or making stupid names. (AI Booster? AI Life? AI NOS?)

I agree with you on that. Asus needs to turn themselves around and just pump out quality motherboards that DO NOT have loads of junk like the AI crap. I spent alot of time just figuring out how to get past all their auto overclocking junk so I could overclock myself. I read the anandtech review of this board and it seemed so awesome but it gave me nothing but trouble. Now that I have all of ASUS's crap disabled we'll see how awesome it really is.
