A8n32 Multiple instances of Primary IDE Channel

Anybody have this show up in their device manager. I have ALL ide devices set to "not installed" yet windows still detects my cdrom drive and it works fine and in the device manager it shows this

I've tried deleting everything under IDE controllers but after reboot with just sata1 and sata2 enabled non-raid windows still finds four channels.

When I enable just the primary ide where my cdrom is at it still shows up the same as the posted pic.

I can't believe how buggy this board is, you would think that for the current flagship model they would be able to get disabling an ide channel to work.

I've actually got 3 instances of each of those in my device manager. Honestly though, after the initial "wtf is this?" reaction upon seeing it for the first time, I haven't given it a second thought.

any thoughts on why I can't even disable my ide drives. Have you tried to disable ide channels and does it actually work?

The second instance of IDE controllers are the nVidia SATA ports. If you install nVidia IDE drivers, they will change to reflect PATA and SATA controllers, with appropriate options available for both.

If you want to disable certain IDE channels, you have to disable them in the Integrated Peripherals section. There you can disable one or both PATA controllers or SATA.

does it even cause problems? I have my system with this board running windows x64 w/4gbs of ram and I have 3 instances of each. No issues at all though.

I havent found a reason to care since everything works fine.

Yes, those EXTRAS are from the SATA ports. Nothing to worry about. The Nvidia IDE drivers may cause problem with some DVD drives and burn applications.

yes I understand that, and that would all make sense if I actually had the PATA controller installed in the bios, I have them all disabled in the bios and they still show up in windows.
