I ordered parts for my new computer today and put them together. On powering up, nothing displayed on the monitor. What is more, I got 5 short beeps (same pitch I think) in sucession. My mother board documentation has NO listing for bios beep codes. I have done some searching on the internet and have found this site:

http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

which should be the appropiate documentation. However there is no information about 5 short beeps. There are other threads with people with my problem and mobo, but they all had a working display. I'm thinking this is a seperate issue and it might have to do with my graphic cards DVI to VGA connector?

Anyway here is the relevant information on my machine:

- My motherboard is an A8N-SLI Premium
- CPU is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core
- Graphics card - e-GeForce 7900 GT
- Memory -CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel

So far I have tried re-seating the memory, re inserting the CPU and heatsink, and re-inserting the graphics card.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The only valid Beep codes in the Phoenix-Award bios is
1-long followed by 2-short beeps indicating that there is a
problem with the video.

Any other beep usually indicates a problem with RAM.

Most error codes are of the (POST) display type (i.e "System halted, Checksum error", etc..)
