a8n strangeness

I just recently bult a system around the A8N-SLI model board and performance etc seems to be fine but there is a strange issue in the bios/low res imagery.

I am using an x800xl (asus brand) and when I boot, the post has what looks like linear artifacting around all displayed text. This may be video card related but because everything in windows displays normally there seems to be something out of the ordinary going on here.

Could it have something to do with displaying low res imagery on the 2001fp?

specs of box are:
2001fp
asus a8n-sli
x800xl
1 gb ballistix

This doesnt really have much to do with performance as it seems to be more of an annoyance. Doesnt seem like artifacting can be soemthing that "flashing" could fix but I'd be willing to give that a shot. any ideas?
