I just dont get why people are bashing a great board by Asus, just because of a few issues it has with overclocking. It still OC's better than the Gigabyte, but then again, nobody is posting on how to try and get more vcore out of a Gigabyte are they?
Anyhow, if I seemed antagonistic, I apologize. Just got a little frustrated with everyone hating on the A8N because it isnt a DFI...
Dude, no offense taken.
I sometimes feel the same way when ppl are "attacking" my hardware.. imagine how many posts I have to glance over having SLI!!
That post of mine is just to let ppl know about it, not tear down the board.
My feelings on the board (though not in that thread because it has no purpose there) are as follows-
1st I'd purchase the DFI, but 2nd in line IMO is the Asus, and then MSI and then the rest..
I think highly of the Asus, and in some cases it has qualities that would merit it a purchase over the DFI, for instance in watercooling the extra space between video card slots is very helpful.
I believe I will (when I get it in) prefer the DFI.. but I like the asus.
I really didnt get to bashing it until ppl started jumping me on how pointless my thread was..
I dont feel it is pointless at all.
I'm frankly ashamed that AT and the other sites wont use their abilities to make this known.. its just shameful to guys like us.
That said, there is nothing wrong per se with the board.. I havent encountered any of the problems posted about it that supposedly exist (I think there is a whole lot of PEBKAC errors out there honestly).
I wouldnt be switching the board at all, but I dont plan on upgrading my motherboard for a long, long time.. so I do want exactly what I want.. which is the DFI's audio solution and voltage abilities.
Either way, I go against popular opinion, I'd rather have the Asus over the MSI anyday, esp with the MSI being limited with new bios as well.. there goes its "superior overclocking".. at least without modification. I dont like MSI anyway, its the only mobo manufacturer that I dont like, actually.
But all the NF4 boards seem good, and I havent spotted a bad one out of the litter!
Tho it does sound like the Gigabyte is the worst... no one seems to own that one either!
And like I said, in certain cases, the DFI can be the best, other cases the Asus, and in others the MSI.. all 3 IMO are the top dog boards.
Anyway, no harm done.. I just hope that I save someone liek myself the fun of swapping out a board like I'll be doing in a day or so..
oh the fun of revisiting a recent build........
