Info on the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium is fairly hard to come by. On the other hand, it is very straight-forward and very stable so there isn't the need for a lot of discussion.

Normally the HTT bus runs at double the rate of 200MHz x multiplier (i.e. x3,4,5). The default speed for the HTT is therefore 200x5x2 (that last x2 mutliplier is not configurable).

In overclocking, you will increase your HTT up from 200MHz and this is where you need to use one of the lower HTT multipliers because you need to keep the HTT bus at less than 2000 for system stability. Hence if you overclock your HTT to 250MHz, you would need to use the x4 multiplier to keep things stable. 300MHz would require the x3 multiplier.

Auto should be fine and set it to x5 if you are not overclocking. Set it manually if overclocking.

A good discussion on overclocking is here...

As for other BIOS settings, your PCI-e bus and PCI bus should be set to 100MHz and 33MHz respectively when overclocking to keep components depending on these bus speeds stable. Auto settings should be fine if not overclocking.

Be sure to enable Q-Fan (I forget the exact term) in BIOS as this will control the speed of your CPU fan so it is not running at full blast all the time.

If you haven't already upgraded, there is an official 1006 bios for this board out that fixes a couple of issues.

Good luck.
