I am having troubles with my A8N-SLI Premium at boot. Programs run fine after boot but my system tray does not load the icons it should load. Also, I get the below error message upon Windows XP Home boot...

Overclk

Error reading TrayIconClk->Visible: Cannot Create System Shell Notification Icon

I am going to run memtest86 and update my nForce drivers from 6.65 to 6.70. Any other suggestions?

My rig:
AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+
ASUS A8N SLI Premium BIOS 1009
eVGA 7900 GT CO Superclocked (256-P2-N565-AX)

WD Raptor 74GB, Seagate 7200.8 160 GB and 300GB
Plextor 740A and 712A
XP-120 w/Panaflo L1A
Antec P160
PC Power and Cooling 850 SSI

I found that the Corsair memory on the ASUS mobo is too aggressive in its default setting. See my post in this mobo forum. turn down the settings by one (3T to 4T) on all of the readings and see if that helps. Also, bump to CPU voltage up a coule of tweaks to around 1.38-1.4V. That stabilized my O/C on this board.

Thanks Jinxplayer and johnpombrio. I have continued to search for answers and have found the overclock.exe is ASUS Ai Booster. I removed the program. After removing the program, I ran error check (Scan disk) and all system extensions loaded.

Next, I ran memtest on auto RAM settings and found an error on the 4th test. Went to Corsairs website (http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38150) and tweaked the BIOS to reflect the settings that Corsair says should work (2.5-3-3-6 at 2.75 Volts) I did this under ASUS BIOS 1009 manual setting for RAM configuration... no longer on auto. Then, reran memtest86 and no error after 9 hours but then got errors. Going to RMA RAM and try some Kingston ValueRAM during RMA process. Both Corsair and Kingston RAM on QVL list from ASUS for A8N-SLI Premium.

I may still end up reinstalling Windows, but at this point if all is fixed with removing ASUS Ai Booster and RAM RMA... do you think I need to reinstall Windows XP Home SP2?

OK, since deleting Ai Booster I have RMA'd the RAM which produced memtest errors and I have found that Windows XP has a known system tray icon problem. This is probably the most comprehensive webpage regarding the problem...

Please note that forums on Microsoft's website discuss this system tray icon glitch and led me to the above site.

Thanks for your help!
