My x2 3800+ with a skythe is cooled fantastically with this case and a single nexus fan at the back sucking air in from the top. My vga is fine with the zalman zf cooler. I've got both of them controlled by a t-balancer and when i'm not stressing the system is dead silent, at least i can't tell it's on. My main worry is even with the fans on full my ram and chipset get really hot.

It's a case of my cpu or vga are barely warm to touch but my nf4 chipset would burn u after about 2 seconds and the ram is very hot too. I have 4 solutions planned :-

1. I'm thinking of mounting a fan where the upper hd bay has been removed and angling it diagonally to pass air right up the chassis. Would this just block airflow drawn in?

2. I could glue (heat conductive) an extra heatsink onto the nf4 chipset block... would this counteract the heatpipe effect of the asus sli premium board?

3.Mount a fan either on the skythe or in the roof mounting to try and draw more air through the case. Wouldn't really effect the ram though which is lined up next the top drive bays.

4. I could connect the heatsink at the end of the heatpipe to the skythe ninja heatsink which is only 2cm away to help disipate more heat.

My ram is crucial balistix so at least i have heatspreaders.

Would appreciate knowing how long other people can leave their finger on the nf4 block on this board...

Generally the NF4 Chipsets run pretty hot. What temp is your chipset actually running at? You should check that with Asus Probe or everest. I have an a8n premium too, and it stays between 38-44 at all times. I cannot hold my hand on there for too long, but these temps are ok. I think they chipsets run ok right up to 80 degrees or so...even though, if your chipset is idling at more than 50degrees i would reccomend you look into some extra cooling for it.

thanks, that probe software does list temps in that range. They just seem very low considering how hot the actual feel of the heatsink is. Anyway I've bought a zalman chipset cooler to glue on to it
