Why you are praying.
Praying that Asus actually fixes some of the problems instead of adding little things that don't matter.
I thought I wanted this mobo, but I keep hearing that it won't OC well.. considering an X2 3800+ paired with 2x1GB DDR4000 Corsair Value RAM. Gonna top it off with a 7800 GT video card.
Do I want this board?
It's not that it doesn't overclock that well. It can if you have the right chip. The problem comes when you need higher and stable voltage.
My X2 3800+ runs at 2.6GHz, but the vCore is all over the place. I set it at 1.45v (max for an X2 on this board which is a very bad idea IMO) and it overvolts to 1.472. I'm actually fine with the overvolting, but I wish it would at least STAY at 1.472 instead of bouncing between 1.45x and 1.49v all the time.
My chip doesn't even break a sweat running Prime95 torture test and I think I could push it further if I had higher vcore and the voltages were stable.
The A8N32-SLI may fix the problem, but it seems like lately Asus has been fixing problems by releasing a new board and hosing its current customers. Tech support is nonresponsive and nonexistent. The last 2 trouble tickets I submitted were closed with no response ... and incidentally changed to a P4C800 mobo support issue. Don't know if it's Asus trying to deny that there's a problem and they're getting complaints.
While I think the board could be a very good board if it's fixed, I think Asus is slipping a lot in the quality department.
I should have waited another couple months (bought early September) for the SLI32 chipsets to come out. MSI has one that I'd love to have and everything I want on it, but it's not out until November.
