Allright as per usual id like to preface by saying I dont consider myself a pro and now am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

First I got an EVGA 6600GT pci-e graphics card it worked fine for the windows install when i put the system together after about 4 hours when i rebooted it beeped three times like on long two short and the monitor would not power on.

I tried 3 different moniters it was the same problem for all of them, I tried switching the cmos jumper going to default and rebooting still no dice. Soo i thought i had a bad card. I went to compusa bought a cheap pci regular graphics card and it booted up fine.

So during that i rma'ed my EVGA to newegg and today got a ledteck 6600GT as seen in the profile. I pop out the pci and put in the pci-e in the top most slot (bottom for the lian li pc, aka the nearest slot by the cpu) and the monitor will once again not turn on.I also tried both the vga and the dvi port using the adapter and no dice. Now i cant think its the cards, there is somthing wrong. I popped in the pci card again while the pci-e is in and it booted up .

I really dont know whats going on and would love a fast resolution to this problems. You guys have always helped me out and I hold your advice to the highest regard.

side note (windows xp version 2002, A8N Bios version 1003-005)

Thanks again !

Do you have the selector card installed with the single mode pointed to the first PCI-E slot (where you have the card installed)?

Yea, the single video card option chip is inside the holder while the dual video card option is not connected to anything, and once again the video card is at the very top slot or first pci express slot on the motherboard

Try flipping the selector card over to dual mode and install the video card in the second slot, just to see if you get anything on the moditor.

I can't see why the first graphics port would just fall out without having anything overclocked on the system. If this doesn't work, take the card back out, move the selector back to single mode. I'd then put the pci video card back in and reflash your bios back to the 1002 final and see if that solves the problem. Sounds like you lost the video signal after the bios flash? Could be a bad flash.

hmm im gonna try that right now, i tried putting the card in that second slot without switching the selector card and that red light came on, i am just praying its not a bad pci-e slot it would be murder to rma this thing :(

EDIT: ALLRIGHT!!! i switched the jumper to dual going into the pin thing, and lef tthe video card in the first main slot and it booted up, I am running it right now.

Now about that cmos little switch thingy, i think i forgot which way its supposed to go can you just verify if i have it the right way.

its the pin thing right next to the lithium batter, i took out the holder and put it on the two left most pins meaning that there is one empty pin and then the battery going from left to right , mind you my board is upside down due to the lian li case soo that aobut be the battery is on the left and the jumper is to the right of it, and the jumper is on the two right end pins leaving once again the blank one facing the battery.

is this the right config :D

Cmos jumpers are three pins next to the battery, and for normal mode pins 1-2 should be capped. Those are the two closest to the battery. The one pin exposed should be furthest away from the battery. If you don't have it that way, shut down and get it that way before you toast the board.

problem round 2!

allright first off thanks a bunch especially you fasteddie for your great help.

but it seems out of nowhere what i did somehow messed up my memory settings now ?_?

this is what im getting from cpu-z normally it says 2-2-2-5 soo this is weird

Screenshot of CPU-Z Memory

im using the memory down below id ont know how switching the selector to dual and using the pci express slot messes with the memory, and for the sake of help the memory are in slots 1 and 3 and by that i mean one stick is in the back nearest to the pci slots and one is blank and the other one is in the third and last one blank .

thanks for the help, hopefully this will be my last question for a loooong time :D

Hi,

I too was having the same problem. It appears that the selector card is marked backwards. I can't get the system to boot with one VGA card in the PCI_1 slot and the selector card with the single video card mode selected. If I switch the selector to dual video mode then it will work. The opposite happens for SLI mode. Can anyone confirm this. I am also pissed that I cant get SLI to work with the selector set to dual mode as this should enable 8x + 8x. The only way I can get nvidia to detect an SLI setup is to have the connector set to single card mode but that sets the slots to 16x + 1x. Any help please?

I would run Sandra on your memory set at 2-2-2-5 1T and 2-2-2-9 1T and see which gives you the better performance in numbers. You might be suprised. ;)
