A8N-SLI non-stop disk chatter even thru reboot

Am getting increasingly annoyed by the non-stop disk chatter coming from my NVRaid 1 setup on my A8N-SLI board. In attempting to isolate the problem, have stopped most services and startup programs, and have killed processes one by one, but the non-stop disk activity continues. Amazingly it even continues thru a warm re-boot. I am only left to assume this has something to do with the Raid setup, but am confounded as to why this would occur. Aside from being very annoying, it is undoubtedly fatiguing the life of my disk drives. Anybody else experience this and is there a solution? Thanks..
