A8N-SLI HDD performance

So I have been having fun tweaking my system, and running this benchmark and that to see how it stacks up. I ran the nTune hard drive performance benchmark, and it comes out WAY below the "standard" that the Ntune utility shows. I have also run a Pro/ENGINEER (CAD) benchmark, and the drive access numbers come out low compared to other machines I have benchmarked, as well.

I have a Samsung 120GB 7200 rpm SP1213C connected to SATA port 1. I haven't mucked with any of the BIOS (using 1004 final BTW) related to the SATA.

Is there something that you normally would need to do when setting up the system/hard drive that I may have missed? It's not a top-of-the-line drive, but didn't get the impression this was a crappy drive, either, from the research I did before buying it.

Are you sure the numbers you are comparing are apples to apples. . .by that I mean, is your drive SATA I or II? And are the comparison numbers from a SATA I or II drive? Keep in mind, as I recall, the nVidia SATA controllers are SATA II capable so maybe that baseline system nTune is comparing against was using a SATA II drive.
