So I'm pretty new at overclocking (mainly doing things I know my hardware can handle/keeping a close eye on temps). But I have a few questions... First off, my setup:
Athlon 64 3200+ 90nm
A8N-SLI Deluxe
Kingston HyperX PC3200 (2x512)
nVidia 6600GT
Now for the questions. Concerning memory, in the bios I can set the MAX setting for the ram by choosing from a list (DDR266, DDR333, DDR400 etc). Now I know this translates to 133 166 200 and such. Now, if I leave this on AUTO configuration, and raise the HTT from 200 to lets say, 220, that in turn raises my memory to that speed as well correct?
Now lets say I set the MAX ram speed to DDR400 and tighten the timings at that speed, then raise the HTT to 220, does that mean my ram will not surpass DDR400 speeds, while my cpu speed will increase?
Also, does AMD Cool 'n Quiet technology hinder overclocking ability? Just raising my HTT to 220 with it on I get the "CPU failed due to overclocking" message.
Another question.. how do the HTT, HT multiplier, and RAM speeds all relate, if they do at all?
Thanks in advance.
