A8N-SLI Deluxe

A friend just built a machine with the following specs:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
EVGA 7900 GT KO
EVGA 7900 GT
AMD 64 3700+
2x1GB OCZ Platinum 3200

He started off by complaining about the lack of video performance, and now trying to reinstall WinXP he is getting video artifacting and his bios looks all messed up.

First thing I have already found is his OCZ ram is not on the QVL for that board...so that's part of the problem likely.

Second...and my question since I don't know much about SLI...do the 2 video cards have to be identical? One of his is a KO, the other isn't. Does that make a difference?

Also, with only running the AMD 64, will that be a significant bottleneck for his video performance?

Any other thoughts on what might be wrong are also appreciated.

Cheers,
