Following minimal hardware attached at this test time.

A8N-SLI Deluxe
Enermax EG565AX-VE (SLI ready)
evga 6800 Ultra
AMD 64 3500+ (Winchester)
Corsair TwinX1024-3200XLPRO
WD Raptor SATA 74GB

System seems to initialize fine then keyboard is lost and no video. I'm using a DVI to DB-15 converter...any known problems with these? When I first fire it up the keyboard light flash, HD spins up, every expected light comes on. Then no video...monitor stays in power saving mode and indicates no signal. I tried hitting the cap locks just to see if a lock up occured and no response. I've checked everything multiple times and everything is seated fine. Yes mobo is in single mode, both 24pin and 4pin power connected as well as the PCI-E 6pin power connector. I also plugged in the speakers and no voice post error at all. Tried messing with this to see if it in fact does work so I removed the memory modules from A1+B1 and did receive an voice error. I'm at a loss to solve this one and chose to turn here for help but I got this feeling something is DOA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your mobo may be DOA.. I had the same thing happen to me. I got mine from ZZF..

I talked to Asus tech support, the first thing to do is :

Take your mobo out of your case, plug the power supply and the cpu only w/ your speakers connected to the lime green audio port in the back.

You can connect the power switch to the mobo header to turn on the mobo. Don't forget to plug in your cpu heatsink fan ..

You should get the voice post reporter telling you that you don't have any ram or video.

Next add your ram and repeat process.

Next add your video card repeat process. Then one at a time add your cdrom & hd.

Good Luck...

Jose

Thanks for the response. Funny I also got mine from ZZF. This morning I did the exact process you mention, heard of it before. I did receive the error, "System failed memory test" over and over when no ram installed. Then upon installing 1 mem module I never received the video error. I tried another mem module from another machine that I know is fine and same result....no video error. Not sure what the prob is but I'd bet the mobo is DOA. Guess I have to attempt an RMA with ZZF.....wonder if they're getting tired of this problem with this board as it seems like a frequent issue around the net. Wouldn't change how I feel though as I've always had good luck with Asus boards and I'm confident this will be rectified.

Have you tried doing a fresh install? I had similar problems. I backed up all my important files to another hard drive. Formatted the one with the WIN XP OS was on and then did a fresh install. It worked fine. Just a thought.

I ordered my board on Feb 28 , received it Mar. 3, built it Mar. 4, rma'd it on the Mar. 7....

They rec'd it Mar. 14, and have not done anything yet.. Be ready to be w/out your board for 2-3weeks..

They suck(ZZF) w/ there no return/exchange policy, this is the last thing I buy from them.. And I buy over 20K / yr of stuff for my customers...

Jose

Try this: remove the VGA card and the EZ selector card then reset CMOS. It worked on my A8N deluxe.

SUISIDE....thought my problem was explained rather well. How's a fresh install going to cure a mobo which fails to post? Remember no video and keyboard lockup?

This has worked for several people, but it does sound like you got a DOA mobo.:(

And its kind of hard to do a fresh Windows install when you can't post:confused:

Sorry for the confusion. When I said I had similar problems I meant that mine would not post either. I reset the CMOS and was able to POST, after that it would try to load XP. It failed when trying to load XP. I would get a blue screen of what the f**k. Even trying it in safe mode would yield the same results. I then read in another forum, that a doing fresh install would get this mobo to work. And it did!

I feel the same way, should have gotten a a8n-e instead also...

Sounds like I have the same kind of problem with my a8n-sli deluxe. About 1/3 of the times I start my computer I have to reset to get a reaction on my display and to get the "beeb" from the mobo. I have tried to clear cmos and update bios without any luck... I don't get any post messages as well... When my system is up and running it is pretty nice, but it is just an annoying problem... I have a 400 watt psu and it is connected correctly. Do any of you have a sollution?

Did you try setting the PnP OS Installed option in BIOS to "No"? Seeing as how there is no OS installed yet could have something to do with it. Grasping at straws here I know but anything beats having to RMA. If it works you gained a lot, if it doesn't nothing lost. Then if it does work you can set it back to "Yes" after you install the OS.
