Hello all,
I am having problems fitting my new 8800GTS video card on my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard due to a zalman 47mm shipset heat sink which I had to install due to the asus chipset fan dying out. My first approach was to replace teh heatsink with something which would allow the graphics card to fit as can be seen in this other thread:
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=37&threadid=2078280
However if possible I`d like to avoid this solution because with shipping and all it would be rather expensive, so I was wondering wether its possible to switch the mobo to SLI mode and run the video card on the secondary slot (whilst leaving the primary empty).
I am at work so cant test it yet. Any ideas about wether this would work or not? I know I will be running at 8XPCI express rather than 16, but I guess it would still be an improvement ofver my current 6600GT at 16x until i finally upgrade my mobo/cpu/memory in Januray.
Anyone knows wether this quick fix solution would work?
Thanks !
