A8N-SLi Deluxe & San Diego 3700+

Hi,

I read on the Asus website that the 1007 bios is required for this CPU to be supported.

Does this mean if I have a board with an older BIOS, putting in a San Diego will result in the PC not booting, or will it boot, just not being able to recognise the CPU?

I need the answer to this question also. I have heard that some NForce4 MBs will not post without the most recent BIOS with Venice or San Diego CPUs.

I'm in the same boat. I004 overclocks great on my board, and 1007 and 1008.01 both suck real bad on my board, 235mhz max HTT🙁

And the real kicker is to flash 1007 from floopy, it says you must use AWDFLASH 1.11, and I can't find it anywhere? 1.08 is on Asus's site? So if I try the chip with 1004 and it doesn't post, I will have to pull of the HSF and swap back to my Winnie to flash back to 1007.

I'm trying to decide wether to start off with 1007 and try flashing back to 1004, or just try starting with 1004.

I gave Asus a ring to ask, but they did not seem to know for sure :|

My main problem is I do not have any other Socket 939 CPU at hand, so if it does not post, I may be stuck, unless I can "borrow" my friends CPU 😛

I have Award flash 1.11 PM me and I will send it to you. I will also be in the same boat; I have a VENICE set to arrive Monday and a new A8N board. Cross your fingers...

Did anybody find out if the motherboards will boot with the rev. E before the bios upgrade? There are a lot of us in the same situation with the new MoBo and CPU in transit with our fingers crossed, are we in trouble or will the mobo boot so we can upgrade bios?

Well, I flashed to 1007 before putting the SD 3700+ in, and to my surprize the SD overclocks well with the 1007, even though it was terrible for my Winchester. So I haven't had the need to try an earlier bios.

I would suggest that everyone upgrade to 1007 prior to putting the chip in, then if it doesn't work well for you flash back to an older bios.

For those of you who don't have a floppy. Just download the latesest version of Asus Update from the Asus site (6.05.01) Here. And you can flash the bios in windows without a floppy. I've always used this windows based utility to flash the bios with no problems.
