I have read a few old threads on using this board for raid and have some worries how well it will work. I want to have a Raid 1 for my boot drive and will keep family pictures and other important things on it and is why I wanted the mirror. I will have 4 other sata drives not in a raid for general storage.
So, my questions are 1) will this be a good way to protect my important files (will also make DVD back ups) 2)Is the raid reliable with this motherboard? 3) Which raid controller should I use? Should I put my non raid drives on the other sata ports or does it make any difference?
My main fear is that I will lose stuff not because my HDD fails but because something happens to my raid set up and I would have been better off not trying.
