A8N-SLI Deluxe problem after BIOS update

I?ve had lots of trouble with my A8N-SLI Deluxe hanging after boot up. I had also experienced persistent ?CPU fan failed? at boot up and , to add insult to injury, my BIOS was only detecting 2 of the 4 Gig of OCZ memory that I had installed, so I finally decided to update my BIOS from that which shipped with the motherboard (~1003) to the latest BIOS (1015).

I have 2 WD SATA Raptors configured in RAID 0 on which I?ve installed XP Pro 32 and a 300 Gig Maxtor SATA drive. The Raptors are connected to SATA 1& 2 of the Nvidia controller and the 300 Gig on SATA 4 of the Nvidia controller. I have Nvidia RAID enabled in the BIOS and I enabled RAID on SATA 1&2. The Silicon Graphics controller is disabled in BIOS.

I researched this and other forums to smooth the way prior to updating the BIOS, so I knew that I had to install the latest Nvidia 65.55 Chipset drivers. I had no problem installing the Nvidia drivers, only passing on the Nvidia audio drivers. Next, I turned off my computer and I emptied my CMOS by shifting the jumper. I then flashed to the latest BIOS (1015).

On initial boot, I hit Del to enter Setup and, while I wait, I see the Nvidia RAID driver loading and I receive the message ?Healthy RAID Array detected?, etc. Then the AwardBIOS CMOS Setup Utility starts.

Under Main, I see: ?Primary IDE Master [None]
Primary IDE Slave [None]
Secondary IDE Master [_NEC DVD_RW ND-3]
Secondary IDE Slave [_NEC DVD_RW ND-3]
First SATA Master [None]
Second SATA Master [None]
Third SATA Master [None]
Fourth SATA Master [Maxtor 6B300S0]
HDD SMART Monitoring [Disabled]?

(Where are my Raptor hard drives? I assume they are not detected because they are a RAID array or perhaps the RAID drivers are faulty?)

Under Advanced, IDE Function Setup, all items are enabled (is this right?).

Under Advanced, NVRAID Configuration, RAID is enabled as are the First and Second SATA Masters. Everything else under NVRAID Configuation is set to disabled.

Under Advanced, I disabled the Silicon SATA Controller.

Under Boot, Hard Disk Drives, I see

?1. SCSI-0 : NVIDIA STRIPE 138.49G
2. 4th SATA-M : Maxtor 6b300S0
3. Bootable Add-in Cards?

When I save and exit the BIOS, I?m unable to start Windows. There is the ASUS screen (?del to enter setup?), then the Nvidia Raid driver ?detected healthy array, Nvidia Stripe 138 Gb, etc., Press F10 to enter RAID setup utility?? I entered the RAID setup utility and everything looks good, I hit to make certain that the array is set to boot, then I exit.

Windows is unable to start and I get the familiar message, ?We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully?. I?ve tried all of the options listed from ?Safe Mode to Start Windows Normally, but to no avail.

My questions are: Do I have the BIOS settings incorrect? Do you think my problem has something to do with the Nvidia RAID drivers? Is this just an operating system fault which requires a (dreaded) reinstall of Windows?
