A8N -SLi Deluxe need help with RAID SATA

Hi all,
I got a A8N -SLi Deluxe, and installed all the software. The nv Firewall wasnt working properly, so i uninstalled it, but can't find it now so cant re-install it. (ie, cant find NV Firewall, any where on the CD)
(Ive looked at the other A8N-Sli posts but they dont help me)
Can someone tell me exactally i need to re-install to get the nv Firewall back?

2nd prob.
I dont know how to set up my RAID.
Using the onboard RAID, and my single SATA 80gig Seagate Disk. (Do i use the Black or Red RAID ports?)
When i boot, ther is an option to config the RAID, but its empty so i got no idea's...
Im using XP (not the 64-bit one) and the RAID controller isnt configed. I also cant make sense of the RAID guide on the Manual or CD.

2x 256mb Samsung
ASUS AX 300 extreme 128mb - 128bit
SATA 80gig Seagate Disk
20gig Seagate IDE (back up disk)
DVR-108 Pioneer DVD RW +/-

Is you're drive already set up? Im guessing it is because it is booting and you are able to install the NV firewall right? Why do you need to set up RAID with a single disk if you can already boot into windows?

Hi,
i got no idea wat raid is, windows device mangaer jsut tells me it isnt set up, if i need 2 SATA or 2 RAID disks, the i supose i cant do it, but how to i tell it to stop bugging me at start up (ie, jsut b4 loading windows it says sumitng like "Press CNTR S or F4 to set up RAID" how do i stop it?)

A good introduction as to what the different levels of RAID are, what they mean, and how many drives you need for each type can be found at the AC&C website -- http://www.acnc.com/04_01_00.html ... though I would hazard a guess that if you do not know what RAID is you probably do not need it.

As for that particular quirk with regards to the message upon startup ... though I'm not intimately familiar with the A8N-SLI, I would hazard a guess that you've either attempted to enable RAID in the BIOS (maybe?) (it comes off by default) or you've installed RAID drivers in Windows but have not configured a RAID array (which in itself is redundant ... oops, so is that ). Since you've only got one drive and don't plan on doing anything with RAID, you can safely ignore/turnoff/etc anything to do with it. Don't uninstall your SATA drivers, however!

The NV Firewall may be a feature that has to be enabled in the BIOS. Try searching around their for that. You say you cannot find where the NV software on the CD is. Im quite amazed you cant remember considering you have installed it once before. It may be on a seperate disk however. If you still cannot find the software, just download it from the Asus website here. If you can't find it their, its possible that it is has been included as part of the chipset installation, which means a reinstall of your chipest drivers may be able to get your software back

Thanks for the help, i think ur right, it must be in the bios sum where, ther specs of the board say "Hardware firewall" so i must have disabled it sumhow.

Look on the Asus cd for Active Armour.

Don't need to, you have it right there on the Asus cd.

Locating the ForceWare Network Installer
The ForceWare Network Installer (setup.exe) and
Manager software are part of the basic NVIDIA nForce
package, which can usually be obtained from the
OEM. The nForce driver installer program uncompresses
software (listed below) in a user-specified directory:
?setup.exe (located in <uncompressed directory_name>\Ethernet\NRM)
?data1.cab
?NVIDIA ForceWare Network Manager.msi

The Manual on the cd will help you the best. Put the asus cd in the drive and hold down the left shift key until the drive spins up. You want to Explore the cd, not autorun it.

\Manual\NVIDIA_LAN contains the Manual

\Drivers\Chipset\WINXP_2K\Ethernet\NAM contains the Network Access Manager setup

i just found the setup described by you, but when i execute it it says "Forceware Network Access Manager is not availiable on this System".. got any ideas? I have installed it before so it shoudl work again...

Found problem, Nforce was not fully uninstalled, so now all is well
