A8N-SLI DeLuxe Memory Timings

I have 4x512Mb OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev. 2 with the 2-2-2-5 timings, but I am having stability problems in games. I've heard that the best timings for this mobo is 2-2-2-7. Is that true? What timings are you guys using?

See my sig for the timings I'm running.

Also, since youre running 4 sticks, 1T command rate is outta the question. And running 2-2-2-5 on 4 sticks is also hit and miss, I think.

I tried 2-2-2-7 2T and still crash in games and 3dmark 2005. I just removed 2 sticks to test, I'll reply later, now I'm trying with 2-2-2-5 1T.

Let me know how it goes please. I really want to try X2 with A8N-SLI, but this memory thing - performance degration when all 4 banks populated - is holding me big time. I really want 2 Gigs of RAM.

I'm still testing with 2x512Mb, but I really want to use my 4x512Mb. So far everything looks ok. Tonight I'll post some news.

marciorr, let us know how 2 sticks works out. I had a buddy who also had problems running 4 sticks with any kind of overclock or timing tweaks.

Everything I have seen points to 4 sticks being problematic at tight timings of any kind, whether it be command rate or CAS lantency, etc. I forget if this is the fault of the Nforce4 chipset, or the on-die memory controller on the A64.

Either way, it does make working with 4 sticks not very fun unless you dont care about timings at all (as in, they would prolly run stable at 2T, CAS 2.5 or 3, if you stick around the 200mhz mark.)

I finished with the 2 sticks tests, it worked with 2-2-2-5 1T very well, no crashing in games.
Now I'm back to 4 sticks, 2-2-2-5 1T doesn't boot at all because of the 1T problem of the A64, 2-2-2-5 2T works most of the time, but eventually crashes on games and 3DMark 2005. I will try 2.5-2-2-5 2T and reply later.

Well, with the 2.5-2-2-5 2T timings, everything is normal until now. No significant loss on performance. I'll do some more tests today.

I just gave up. 4 sticks are not stable. It may work, but you can expect problems from time to time. If you're not in the mood, stay with 2 sticks.
