A8n-SLI Deluxe: Going from 1002 final to latest any special steps required?

I'll be reformatting my brothers PC based off a A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard running the 1002 final BIOS...

...a ways back, I thought I saw that just downloading the file onto the floppy and using the very convienient F2 method wouldn't work...that the onboard updated itself had to be updated or something like that.

I'd like to either use the F2 method, or the DOS bootdisk with the utility on it method, to flash up to the latest...I just don't trust Windoze on a BIOS flash at all.

Anyone know if I'll have to do anything special to use the F2 method?

Thanks either way!

slsmnaz- I AsusUpdate is the Windows based utility (can't remember...the last Asus board I flashed was an old T2P4)....I don't trust Windows for BIOS updates.

DOS or Asus's built in F2 (I like that feature) I trust....Windows I do not.

If AsusUpdate is DOS based, or if the F2 way is AsusUpdate, then I have no problem using them.

I could have sworn though that at least one of the BIOS's for this motherboard, and I assume all after it, needed an update to the flasher...using the old one - which is more than likely what he has right now for it - wouldn't work.

I thank you though for the suggestion!

AsusUpdate is in windows and is the only one I've used. There is also a flash utility for DOS on the mobo CD.
