OK, my first impressions are AVOID THIS LIKE PRISON RAPE!
It bluescreened XP, so I tried to back-rev the BIOS to 1017.004. No go, I got a 'You cannot downgrade this BIOS' message.
Tried reflashing with 1805. Still bluescreened.
Did a force flash of 1017.004 with 'awdflash /F'. That booted, let me log in, then bluescreened.
I finally had to corrupt the BIOS (shut system off while flashing), boot off the mobo CD, and let it auto recover the BIOS to 1004. After that, I reflashed it back to a new DL of 1017.004 and it now works.
I want the last hour of my life back.

So, where is 1017.004? And why is there no information on 1805 (i saw it shortly after release as well, but I didnt DARE try to flash it being such a huge revision upgrade, i figured it was in the wrong board folder)

Looks like ASUS pulled all their beta BIOS for this board. I've been running 1017.004 for a long while (sometime in 2005, IIRC). Check Google, a number of sites have it hosted.

I got my first ever reply from Asus on this one:

"1805 BIOS fix the a small bug will 7950GTX graphic card. About 1017.004 BIOS, sorry, we don't have the data at present. You could try attached 1804 BIOS."

Didn't answer my questions about the strange revision number or why they pulled the betas after 1016 final. Now I have 1804 to worry about. I found 1017.004 so that should be OK for the Opteron 175 I just ordered.

Hi,

After installing this BIOS you need to boot windows in safe mode so that it can reinstall drivers for the changed BIOS stuff. After that reboot and all should b good ;)

Dear Friends,

for those who got a BSOD after flashing to the 1805 bios, start Win XP in safe mode first. This will allow the board to re-detect devices that have been re-addressed in this Bios. Once the new devices are detected, restart Windows and every thing should be OK.

For those who use Pinnacle 50i / 50e / 100i / 100e etc, you will have to re-install the pinnacle mediacentre software after the above procedure.

Thanks for the updates, guys. This BIOS seems to be a newer version. The date on the file is now 11/30, mine was dated 11/06. Also, it links to 1805.rar, not 1805.zip. I'll try this out when I get home and let you know if it works for me.

Where is this 1805.rar? I only see the 11/6/06 dated 1805.zip on their website and ftp.
