Hey

As the message title explains im running an Asus A8N SLI Delux mobo. I was previously running bios version 1011 but decided to upgrade to version 1013. I have version 6.66 chipset drivers installed like it instructs to do so.

Anyways i upgraded the bios using asus update utility, worked fine then upon reboot i get Bios Checksum error msg. i press f1 or restore default bios settings it goes away and doesnt return again upon numerous reboots.

I tried clearing cmos and when i did came up with msg again, same deal i press f1 or restore settings and then all is good. Problem has only occured after i changed to different bios.

Anyon experienced this problem??? how can it be solved?

Any help would be much appreciated

I had the same problem with the 1013.002 bios, so I flashed back to 1011.

Uhm, when you first flash your BIOS using that utility it has a check box to reset your bios settings. That message was just there due to you updating your bios. Also, whenever you clear your CMOS you will get that check sum message.

I have almost the same machine as Nocturnal. No problems with 6.66 and 1013, except that the NVIDIA firewall does not work.
I flashed using the ASUS Update utility (I downloaded the latest one).
I set all the BIOS settings again and things worked just like before. I don't notice any difference.
I don't have the 'does not turn off' bug/feature.

I get a problem with my computer freezing and I have to use the power button to shut her down. Guitar Daddy...do you have any suggestions of what's going on? You seem like a knowledgeable bloke.

Not sure, but I'm sticking with 1011. And really I haven't seen any impovements since about 1007, and everything works fine and overclocks great. I don't see the need to update it any farther at this point unless they come up with a fix the 1T problem(highly unlikely at this point) or AMD introduces new s939 chips.

it's weird...my comp still froze and I downgraded to 1011. you have any other ideas why this could be happening?

Do you have, by any chance, Norton Ghost 9 installed on your PC? That program did that to my system, it wouldn't shutdown and had random hangs. If you have it uninstall it.

Are you running the nVidia version of the 6.66 driver pac or the Asus version? Reason I'm asking is that Asus has appearantely modified the nVidia driver pack to ultimately correct some issues with the Sli Deluxe raid performance when coupled with some of the newer bios. If you note the Asus dl instructions, you'll see that Asus specifically states that Win XP users need to dl and install the 6.65 chipset driver pac.

The only problem I noticed with the Bios is that I can't get higher than a 3x HTT multiplier. I can choose 4x in the Bios, but Sandra and Everest both show the HTT multiplier set at 3x (233 x 3 = 699).

Anyone else get this problem?
