People,

Help me please :(

I am on my 3rd A8N-Sli MOBO 1003bios, running winchester 3500 with 1x6800GT (did have 2, blew one up, it's RMA), raptor hard drive, Audigy 2 ZS PCI, Powerstream 520w PSU.

It's running great now, rock solid stable at 266x11, Mach II cooled.

The final piece of this jigsaw is the RAM:

I am running Gskill LE 3200/4400 RAM, as the CPU is manual overclock I have to set RAM FSB to Auto, If I don't then CPU FSB defaults to RAM settings.

When I boot up I am running RAM at 172FSB??? :confused:

I can't run 275x11 or 300x10, I have heard that A64's do not like .5 multipliers (ie 10.5) so to get the best overclock I run either 292x10 or 266x11.

RAM has 2.9v and CPU has 1.55v but BIOS sets ram to 172MHZ when it should be running 266Mhz (same as the CPU) - can somebody help me out with this one?

Cheers

Set the memory to ddr400. If its set to auto it will default to a lower memory divider when overclocking past certain points.

You need to set the ram at 400 or lower in order to overclock the cpu at 266. I use the 400 setting on my msi board, but the board automatically sets the ratio at 5:4 (according to cpuid). I have also used the 333 setting. Setting it to auto results in a no post situation on this particular board. I'm also running a p4 at 266, so at 5:4, the memory is actually running at about 213 (426 net).

On the A8N-SLI

DDR400= 1:1
DDR333= 6:5
DDR266= 3:2
AUTO= auto divivder always keeping memory at >=200

This board currently limits ram speed to 240-245mhz 1T. With HTT over 245 you will need to use DDR333

You can run ram higher than 245mhz using 2T. but performance will go down. I recently tested on my board and 9x284=2557mhz DDR333 ram=233mhz 1T beats 9x287=2583 DDR400 ram=287mhz 2T

Brilliant,

Thanks guys.

Now the next question is how do I get passed that 1T issue above 245FSB??

I guess if I set the ram to 333 it's a 5:4 divider - so to get the most from my ram if not 1:1 I have to set to 333 right?

Any mor ehelp you can give would be appreciated.

Using Gskill LE TCCD chips 2x512MB if that helps?

Cheers
