i am having issues with the 1004 bios and cant really understand them other than stability. when i prime on blend the 1004 bios, it fails in one minute, but when i prime on blend the 1003 bios it is stable for over 12 hours. the settings are exactly the same, and i did all tests at stock speeds. i have a feeling it has to do with memory stability, as blend usually fails because of lack of voltage to the memory, but cant seem to figure out why, both pass memtest 1000%. anyone else have similar issues with this bios? everything else runs fine, 3dmark, super pi ...ect. just cant prime.

I have a very similar situation. I have been using the 1004 Bios for a while now and haven't really paid too much attention to the differences until i tried installing and testing using PCMark04, it fails every time during the memory tests. Also the system hangs during the first test using Prime95. I am reinstalling Windows after reflashing to 1003. I will post results here after installation is finished.

BTW I had the same problem with Crucial Ballistix PC3200 2-2-2-7 1T and Corsair XMS 3200XL 2-2-2-5 1T. I also set both to SPD and still had the same problems.

Well I think my problem is not bios related. I am still freezing during the 5th or 6th PCMark04 Memory test and I have configured the system to the following

DDR200
3-3-3-8 2T
5x200
1x Hyper Transport

even at those settings my rig hangs during PCMark04 testing. I have not had any rebooting during gaming or blue screens any other time. Something must be up with this software and either the mobo, some bios setting or the 6.39 drivers.

i am not sure, i just ran pcmark a couple times, all tests and it passes no problem, also prime95 runs fine when i do the in place large fft test, i am not sure, i am thinken it might just be something with prime and the blend, i played farcry and cs:source for 3 hours and everything is perfectly fine, so i dont know

i am not sure what is going on with your setup, that does not seem right, i will let you know if i can find anything about that, but it might the mobo, maybe try reinstalling pcmark.

now i cant blend on prime. i can do small and in place large fft for hours, i can do memtest86 for over 1000% and run pcmark and 3dmark and super pi, but as soon as i try to do prime blend it fails in like 3 minutes. does anyone else have a problem like this. all this is leading me to believe that there is a problem with prime and not my computer.

No, not to my knowledge. The most recent released final BIOS is 1004. The most recent beta is 1005-05.

Stupid Audigy card, removed it and problem seems to have cleared up. I was even getting a hang during Test #8 of Memtest-86 V3.2. Anyone have any idea what it is about this board and the Audigy 2 ZS card?

Interesting... I thought it was just me. I started experiencing the same Prime95 issue described when I upgraded to 1004. Everything else was perfectly stable. When running 1003, Prime95 would run for over 24 hours.

Hopefully we see some 1005/1006 finals soon with the 1007 betas out.

Well I am not sure what I did, but my system now does not have any Memtest or Prime95 problems but still hangs during PCMark04 memory tests unless I remove one dimm and run in single channel mode

well i set everything up: vcore 1.408, vdimm 2.75 2-2-2-5, stock speeds - i passed memtest86+ for 14 loops, then super pi 32m, pcmark04, 3dmark03+05, prime #1 for 10hrs. i am hesitent to try prime blend again as i dont want to see that damn yellow square. i am thinking that it might be the cpu not getting enough voltage, i know everything is stock, but if i fail prime at 1.408, should i try bumping the voltage up to like 1.44 or 1.45? would this damage the chip at all? i got an xp120 with 103cfm panaflo so i dont think cooling would be a factor, cpu never over 40 C and chip never over 34 C.

1.45 is fine IMO..

I had a 3500 also and to gain stability I had to up the vcore

To grab 2.65ghz I had to whip it up to 1.66

I think with the cooling you have 1.45 is fine, just a slong as your load temp is maintained under 55c youre good.

I know you have a great PSU, but ever consider it may have a problem?

Try your vcore around 1.45/1.47 see if you get the little yellow square

actually this is the second psu, i had the dual 12v rail neopower before and i dont think it had a problem but for some reason just didnt sit right with me, the dual rails got some bad press and i was not impressed, went with the ocz and i questions the psu about this, but it happened with both, same way, and this one rarely fluctuates from 12.036, thing is more stable than i thought even under full load for 10 hrs. but again you are right about not eliminating the psu

but i am def gonna try and bump the vcore up. i dont know but maybe the 3500's require a little more or something???

Have you guys bumped up the voltage to the ram? My Crucial ballistix is set at 2.8v.

i have mine at 2.75 right now, but have done it at 2.8v. just want to try and get it to run at the 2.75 because i dont think it is the mem voltage that is not enough, but then again not sure either.

well it is stable now. i dont think it was voltage actually, i bumbed up the vcore to 1.43 anyway and left the vdimm at 2.75, on the 1004 bios i failed in 2 min. i installed the 1007-002 bios and had the same settings and i let it run all night for over 11 hours, no errors. so i guess it was a bios issue and not a hardware issue!?!

I think it was a BIOS issue. A very unusual one, but a BIOS issue all the same. I'll be running some more tests this weekend with 1006.

Very similar problems here. Was using 1004 at the time. Now have 1005-05, but haven't checked issues.

Memtest crash on test #8. But only with both chips.

PCMark04-memory test crashes every time.

Resolved the Memtest86 crash by uping voltage to 2.85.

Don't know about the PCMark04 problem yet. Kinda waiting/hoping for a 1007 final before doing all the benchmarking again.
