A8N-SLI 3-DIMMS

ok, so I finally ditched my mobile 2500 for a A64 3000. I have had 2x 256mb mushkin bh-5 for a while but bought another 512mb stick of corsair tccd a couple of months ago. They worked fine in dual channel at 221fsb 2-2-2-11 in my nforce2, however, now it won't even boot with both of the sticks in the a8n. Is there something I am missing, or is it time to spring for new ram?

the manual says "when using one ddr dmm, install into slot dimm_b2 only, when using two ddr dimm modules install into dimm_a1 and dimm_b1 slots only." It doesn't say anything about three or four dimms.

It works fine with just the 2 bh-5 sticks or the one tccd, but not both at once.

Correct. Dual channel needs pairs installed. And the manual shows two pairs installed. I'm running two pairs in dual channel. The key is pairs.

so I'm going to have to either stick with just the bh-5 in dual channel, or buy another 512 tccd and run them all at once?

You might get away with running two different pairs, (channel a = bh-5, channel b = tccd), it would be better (read more stable) to have two pairs of the same modules.
