Hey experts, I need some quick help...

I'm in the market for a new mobo and proc. I've narrowed it down to an X2 4400+ and either of these 2 motherboards...

Asus A8N-E

or

Asus A8V-E

I've heard horror stories about the a8v-e...but i've got the a8v regular now and it works great...

After getting the parts...here is a list of the parts going into the machine

4x 512 sticks of Corsair 3200 XMS LLPT
3 ATA HD's
1 SATA HD
Creative X-Fi Plat
Linksys 802.11g card
Sony 700DRA (or somthing) DL DVD burner

...and the ati r520 xt when it's released...

I'd really like to stick with asus, i've always used their parts and NEVER had an issue (after 4 different systems).

anyone have any suggestions or tips?

Just get the 3800+ and overclock it. You most likely won't be able to use the A8V-E, because it has AGP, and the R520 will most likely be PCI-E only for some time (the 7xxx series are). Also, you should be able to get a better overclock on the A8N-E. I'd recommend trying some other brands though, as brand loyalty will give you a very small selection...

Yes as long as you stick with a name brand a la Asus Abit DFI EPoX MSI you'll give yourself a much larger selection and still be guarenteed stability and support etc.
and the 3800+ is a very good OC'er i read, brekaing even the 4800+ clocks
