A8N-E Slow Windows boot

I just built my computer and the firmware i'm using for my A8N-E is 1007-02, the rest of my rig details are below (in the rig link).

For some reason, my windows boot time is horrid, it just seems to take forever..
what's wrong?

Also is it possible to update the bios of my mobo without a floppy? I didn't buy one.

Thanks.

I would say this is a symptom of a hardware detection issue. This would mean a component is not working properly. Could be this component is not seated or attached properly, or it is broken.

well.. in my device manager, i have an unknown device..
i'm not sure what it is..
all i have in my system is working properly..

For me the problem was that the PATA drives were set to master. I changed them to CS (cable select) and the boot was much faster. Mine was hanging forever during POST.
The unknown device in the dev-mgr will go away when you install ASUS AiBooster.

I can't pull up your specs to see exactly what you're running, but it sounds like you may have installed the NVidia IDE Drivers - these have caused lots of problems.

If that's not it, you may possibly have two Devices on the same Channel jumpered the same. I don't think I'd go with the Cable Select settings, but that may not be a big deal.

well, i don't think i have a channel conflict because i only have 2 drives, my SATA HD and my IDE DVDRW.. but yes, i did install the nvidia IDE drivers... those are the ones that came with the nvidia chipset drivers.. although there was the option to not install them, but i did anyways..

so AiBooster should get rid of that unknown device??
hmm, ok, maybe i should install that.
