I just got off the phone with Asus and they tell me the Opteron is not supported on either board. I knew they did not list it on the site but I have seen people post here that seem to be using an Opteron in them. Not sure if they are just not supposed to tell us it is supported or if they know something I don't.
If you have either board and are running an Opteron dual core let me know. Also if you had to do anything to get the board to recognize it.
I am looking at getting:
A8N-E (don't need the SLI really)
Opteron 175 and OCing it about 300MHz
On a related note if I only want 300MHz will a 4400 X2 do just a well without needed coaxing like a third party heat sink etc? (new to AMD)
I searched around but did not find a "definite" answer.
