I'm thinking about doing an entire system upgrade. Mobo of choice right now is the A8N-E. Of course this has active cooling on the northbridge and of course we have heard all the horror stories of them failing eventually or just being to loud. One of my friends just did a slammin upgrade. Operton... the works! He used the A8N-E for this, got the rev2 mobo and said the northbridge fan is alot different then the rev1 board. Now here's the question. Doing some reserach there seems to be different northbridge fans out there for the A8N-E. I've found the rev1 A8N-E that uses the first northbridge fan and the rev2 screenshot of it that uses another different kind of fan. Thing is i showed this to my friend and he said BOTH the rev1 and rev2 screenshots for the A8N-E has a different fan then the one he got on his board. So what there are three different active cooling fans for this board or more? Any info on this is apppreciated thx!

EDIT: will like to know if there is a guide out there (similar to mechbgons how to build a pc website) that shows how to exactly remove active cooling on boards and replace it with passive cooling, if anyone got links post here, thx!

There are sort of guides out there. I remember posting a rundown of the installation of an NB47J on my A8N-E here at AT. Try these:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=29&threadid=1485553&enterthread=y <--- HUGE thread of about 400 posts. My greatest contributions are around the 250th posts.

http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=19902&highlight=gerbil <--- Another Huge thread. I posted detailed info there along with pictures of the clearance between the NB47J and the video card's hsf.
