i just got this board and it worked out of the case. i installed windows out of the case, and all went well. but the problem is that when i put it into the case, it would power on but no image on monitor. so i took it out again laid it on the mobo box and still same problem. i hear no beeps. this computer was working beofre and it is not working anymore. i think the case somehow shorted it and fried it. the order from bottom to top is case back panel, standoff, the motherboard, and screw. i don't know why this shorts the motherboard. please help

1. videocard
2. Memory
3. CPU and HSF

Something may not be properly seated.

i have checked all of those in another computer and have also reseated it, i also did the bare setup. another thing is that the northbridge fan gets hot even though the computer isn't on but the power is plugged in, is this normal

ya the fan spins but i just get no picture. but i am saying when the computer is off the fan gets hot, like the metal parts of the heatsink on the northbridge gets hot, the power is plugged in though.h

Hey Just to let you know I bought an ASUS a8n-P and it dosn't work at all with my 4600x2. They are snding me a new bios chip. They wanted to charge me like $20. I paid Like $170 for it already. This is what I wrote:

Hell no I am not paying for shipping. I bought your mother board that is advertised for the AMD 64 x 2 processor. How about you send me the new BIOS chip for free and I will send you the old one with a return package paid for by ASUS. I paid $170 for a mother board that was shipped with an old BIOS. Or you can buy back my motherboard. It is not my fault it is ASUS! And to think that I should even have to pay more for this board to work is crazy. Just to let you know I?m not the only one with this problem. Every one on the forums I go to is also having the same problem.

i don't have x2. i have a venice. the motherboard did work before outside of the case. i am going to exchange the motherboard. but i just want suggestions so i won't short it out

Just curious, what does this have to do with kevinf2090 shorting his mb?

WTF! This has nothing to do with his issue. You're an idiot for posting this.

Kevin - have you disassembled everything and start from scratch? I remember having a similar issue and after reseating everything, my problem went away.

yes i reseated everything. but the real problem now is that the northbridge fan gets hot even when the compuiter is off. is this normal

The Nvidia nForce4 Chipset does get very hot, so it should be normal unless you believe that the system is instable b/c of the chip overheating.

If you haven't already, you can reseat the chipset fan and use AS5 or buy a replacement fan.

I was having the same problem. Found out that the screw mounts where not located at the holes as my last mother board. The mount by the ram. Check and make sure that you are not shorting out the board with a misplaced screw mount.

ya i even left it there overnight and its still hot. and i am fairly sure that all my screws were right
