I'm looking at getting a digital camera. I've never owned one before.

I was looking at the A70 before, but now the A80 (hey its new :)). What is the difference between the S410 and the A80?

Is it worth getting the A80 over the A70 considering the price difference?

Hey Stefan. :) Regarding the A80 versus the A70, it really depends on what your uses for the camera are going to be like. The A80 has quite a bit larger LCD and a 4 megapixel sensor instead of the 3.0 of the A70. If you can spare the change, go for the A80...

you can do a product comparison on canon's page. in terms of specs, the s410 and A80 are virtually identical. however, the s410 uses a rechargable lithium ion, weighs less, and is smaller. being an owner of the sd100, i'm partial towards the style of the s410.

don't even think s70. just remember sensors have pixels that only detect one type of color each.. so 3mpix is not 3mpix color detail;)

The A-series are great beginner cameras. Don't get caught up in the megapixel hype. Unless you're planning to print larger than 8x10, 3MP is sufficient.

Since she lives in another state, I got an A60 (2MP) for a friend of mine for a little over $100. The pics are NIIIIICE! :D

Get A80 if you want the fuctions like Flippable LCD screen and use of AA batteries. (You will get much better battery life using 2250nimh batt. than S410's li-ion batt. pack. ) Go for S410 if you want very compact camera that will fit into your pocket.

Edit: Btw, I own A80 because I absolutely loved A70 and wanted the flip LCD thing. I have had S400 too but I thought it was too small for my hand and didn't feel very comfortable holding with one hand.
