A80 loud?

I got my A80 today to replace the A70. First thing I notice when I turn it on is that it's LOUD! The motor that operates the lens is considerably noisier than that in the A70. Is this a defect or am I just going to have to get used to a lot of extra racket?
 
I went to Best Buy and listened. It sounded louder than the A70 did, which at least is reassuring that my camera is not faulty, but why would the A80 be louder than the other PowerShot cameras?
