A7VBX-LA & A7V

A friend has an HP computer (out of warranty) that has a dead motherboard. It has A7VBX-LA silkscreened on it. It has an XP2800+ cpu. To me it looks like a "normal" motherboard & that the case would allow a "normal" motherboard in it (with the right rear panel plate).
Since it's an HP, will I have to find the exact replacement?

I still have a Asus A7V and it only takes a AMD thunderbird processor Socket 462.

I never heard about it, I had the asus A7V, my first socket A board I upgraded from the Asus Slot A

And yes it's a mobo made by Asus for HP. and yes you can buy any socket A board and just drop it in there provided it supports a 2800+. 🙂

A nice Nforce2 board would make a good replacement.
