A7V8X-MX no fan no post - help ?

I just got his board back from ASUS . I reinistalled it . Fan worked , it posted so I then installed HD, CD ROM . I start up again hd, CD by BIOS recognized but then got some strange error message saying something like no primary IDE 80 conductor cable recognized .and a boot failure . I tried again wiht another cable connecting hd only still got that message but the machine booted fine. I shut everything down ( and unplugged 120 v to ps of course) so could connect the CD . After doing so the machine will not start ,no fan no post, no boot,no beeps ( the green light mother board led is on when ps is turned on ) . BTW- Resetting the BIOS did not help . What could be wrong ? . I need some troubleshooting help please . - thanks

What are your other system specs? Please also list power supply brand/model.

Additional information - CPU - XP 1700, WD 10HD, memory 256k pc2100,using on-board video , PS -EZ Media PSEZ350 AMD/P4 . After looking trhough google I might have see the reason for the 80 conductor error message. I must ahve mixed the cable with one that I had for the secondary controller. Whatever the case I am really stuck .

I am off this AM to buy another PSU but I really don't think that is the problem .

New PSU and no go . It looking like :I willl be sending this baord back ASUS .
