When I say it won't boot I mean no display, standby light on the monitor ,fans spinning.
The machine works fine with a GF4.
9700 Pro works fine in my other rig.

I noticed a note in the manual about only using 9500s & 9700's from PN xxx-xxxxx-30 onwards 'for optimium peformance & overclocking stability' ,(*rant* why the hell is that anyway?? those cards were out long before this mbrd so they should work!:| ),as it happens my 9700 ends with 01.

Anyway to fix this?

Well the response was overwhelming :p

But anyway ,thanks to Dazed and Confused who PMed me a possible solution :)
The 1010 beta bios got a 9800 working properly on his mbrd :) ,so I'll try that bios on my sons rig & see if its fixes it.(I think it currently has the latest non beta bios ,1009)

Will report back FYI.

Tried the 1010 005 beta bios ,made no difference.Neither did lowering the AGP speed to x2 ,or increasing the AGP voltage upto 1.8v ,nor lowering the AGP aperature to 64MB.

I guess whatever Asus or VIA did to this chipset/mbrd really screwed compatibilty up with earlier 9700s! :frown:

Unless someone else has any bright ideas on this I quit ,I'm going to sell the 9700 Pro & he'll have to make do with a GF4 Ti4200 (which now needs a new fan:p) for now.

try to press the reboot button on your case when it fails... I had 9700 pro who wouldn't play nice with many AGP mobos.
