Yeah so I am behind a few boards, so what. :)..I needed a board now and don't really want a first run Nforce 2.

Here is my story:

Bought me an A7V266 a year ago , then VIA comes out with the 266A chipset almost right after I bought my board........I spent many months trying to tweak the board and finally settled into it and forgot about it for awhile....it ran beautifully and never gave me a problem even with thousands of hours worth of heavy use..hell its still works great!

Anways I decided it was time to upgrade to something else so I decided an KT333 would be the best choice for an AMD set-up..so I started with an Epox 8k3a and to keep the story short ...basically I fried my 1600+ processor had to return the Epox board and buy a 2000+ proc instead with the money. :( .........a few weeks past and I decided to try again , this time the store was out of that particular Epox which was a pain anyways....instead they had some 8k3ae boards.......good god man, Epox needs to go back to school and learn to make boards, what a pile a crap that thing was...nothing but problems with it. The short time I did have it going I found that I gained about 300 3D marks vs my old A7V266 board.
I took it back and bought an A7V333, got her installed and updated and found that I gained a solid 1500 3D marks vs my old A7V266....a worthly advancement.
No its does not overclock like a mad man but for what little OCing it does do it does it and solidly and remains stable.
Asus boards are dogged out by Epox owners and visa versa....I am here for the versa and am gonna throw another stone at the Epox people....your boards suck!!!
Good Day!

Well, rather than sending Epox to Hell, perhaps you should learn to configure your BIOS properly. ;)

Dude, I have 2 A7V333's at work. they are just average boards. I have even known people that can't get them to run right ever... but none-the-less there's a success story with almost any make/model mobo. I just tried EPoX for the first time in my own rig (starting last week) and it started out rough, but after the problems are sorted out. I love this mobo. features coming out the ying yang, and it seems rock stable and fast now.

but it's not just EPoX vs Asus
it's

Gigabyte
Soltek
Soyo
Albatron
EPoX
Asus

ETC!
you'd love many other boards too.

Funny, Tom's Hardware can apparently configure their BIOS correctly. Afterall, the Epox wiped the floor with the Asus. :) But what does he know.. he's just a measely hardware reviewer. ;)

"Summary:
Out of a total of 18 test candidates, the Gigabyte GA-7VRXP made the best impression: in all of the benchmark disciplines, this motherboard with the KT333 chipset ranks among the top performers. The only other boards to offer stiff competition were the Epox EP-8K3A+ and the Enmic 8TTX2+, both of which managed to achieve slightly better results in some of the tests."

Sadly, I fail to see Asus even given an honorable mention.. :D

You have a point there perhaps its just that I kind of know what kind of love the Asus boards need and want to produce good results.

Let me be more specific, the first Epox board might have been workable but it was quite tiring, I spend nearly 15 hours with it and still was not happy.........the second one , the 8k3aE really was a pile, it was laid out bad and very cramped, it had a physical problem as it would not post the CPU fan speed all of the time.........finally something went wrong with it and it would not boot up at all.

I may try another Epox board, probably right after hell freezes over.

I agree.

Anyone who believe or even wastes their time reading what is at Tom's hardware is dumber than a brick.

Asus=The best boards money can buy........most reviewers disagree cause they aint getting free boards from them, Asus don't need Tom's stupid reviews.

I wouldn'treally call it 'wiped the floor'. With differences bewteen the boards at 1-2fps on games and a few points here and there, they are virtually equal in performance and the results are still within the margin of error. THG actually mentioned Asus board:

the A7V333 is certainly a solid board with good performance and numerous features.

I have good experiences with both Epox and Asus. But what differentiates Asus boards are their longer 3-year warranty. The value of this is not apparent until you need it. For example, I won an Intel OR840 board on Ebay for $20, shipping included. But the mobo turned out dead and the guy who sold it dissappeared. The board is two years old but thanks to Intel's 3-year warranty, I got a replacement. I would have been screwed if it was another brand.

That was sarcasm, I hope you know.
