A7V333 and mouse sticking...

I put a system together for a friend of mine. The specs are as follows:(The important stuff anyway)
WindowsXP Pro
A7V333
AthlonXP 2100
Corsair XMS RAM 512MB
Geforce4 Ti 4400

Now, he is telling me that whenever he uses more than one mouse button at once(He's a 3D modeler. Primaraly uses Maya but this problem happens everywhere)and releases them his computer still sees the buttons as being "held down." It's kind of hard to explain the situation. Lets say I have to hold down my right and left mouse button to drag an "item" across the screen. Once I drag this "item" to where I want it I release the mouse buttons to drop the item in place. However, when I do this the "item" I wanted to move is still stuck to my cursor because for some reason Windows, or Maya or anything else for that matter still sees the mouse buttons as held down. Now, he has tried multiple mice(both USB and PS/2 versions)but it still has the same effect. I would assume that the problem is with the motherboard or with Windows. Has anyone run into into this with the A7V333? Could it be a USB driver? Any help would be appreciated because I'm taking a trip to his apt to try and resolve the situation. Thanks.

He doesn't happen to be using an Asus iPanel or iPanel Deluxe, does he?

If you mean the drive that mounts in the 5 1/4" bays then no. I'm pretty sure he's using the USB 1.1 connections at the back of the motherboard. This is why I hate building computers for people. It worked without flaw at my house but as soon as I give it to the owner they go and fudge up the whole thing.

Hmmm. Well, for the record, I haven't noticed anything on mine, except that my iPanel will make the mouse pointer stick momentarily when it updates (I disabled the updating to fix this, what a waste of money...). If it worked at your house, the reasonable thing to assume is that something he did has caused it, possibly including installing Maya, or an antivirus software, or changing a setting in Windows...? Good luck, I'm guessing a Windows reinstallation is coming up there. :(

Not really sure if this is it, but there are a few features in XP that might be causing the probelm

Go to start>control panel>accessibility options
Make sure there are no check boxes checked under keyboard tab or mouse tab. I'm doubtful this will work, but eh its worth a try before refomatting =)

Oh, here's another nice tidbit of information. He layed this one down on me today. He says that he "tweaked" his computer for maximum performance. Now maybe back in the Windows95 and 98 gaming days this would be beneficial but gaining 4FPS at the cost of stability is not my bag. So now the only solution is for me to haul my butt up to Northern NJ on a jammed packed parkway after working 10 hours. Grrrrrrrrrreat. Well, thanks for the information guys.

You know, I think there is a feature in Windows that will allow you to manually set the mouse pointer to "carry" stuff around like that. Could be he tweaked the visuals on WinXP and activated this in the process...
