I just put a A7V266-E together a few days ago, and I've experencing this odd lockup/crash.
The A7V266-E will run fine Until a bit of pressure is put on it, (copying files playing games ect) It will run for awhile with out a problem then it will start suddenly studdering (this can happen anywere from 5 minuets to 2 hours of usage) after it studders for a few seconds it then locks up tight, and if you click the mouse a few times the computer will do a single Beep from its interal speaker. After this Happens the only way to get the computer to do anything is to hit the Hard reset button! I've gone over most of the BIOS setting they all seem fine (a bunch of new setting I have to figure out what mean again) but most of these have a auto setting that I've set them to. I've checked the DRR voltage setting and Put it on the Default setting that they have in the Manual of 2.65V (I noted when I got the mother board the DDR voltage was set to 2.8V which I set back to the default before I even powered up the A7V266-E mother Board)
(what I mean by studdering has "nothing to do with Sound at all", quite often the sound will continue for a few seconds after the computer starts to lockup. It studders in movement, and its normally not accessing the Hard Drives or CD-Rom)
System Specs:
Asus A7V266-E With Audio, without Promise ATA 100
AMD ThunderBird 900mhz
300W Sparkle power supply (amd approved)
256MB 266MHz PC2100 DDR SDRAM

D-Link 10/100 NIC
