I am having major problems with getting ATA100 going on my A7V133 motherboard.

my setup is:
Athlon 1gig
IBM deskstar DTLA - 307030 HDD
256mb 133 RAM
pioneer 16X DVD
Ricoh 6x4x32 burner
Asus Gforce2 MX
SB live

I have the HDD plugged into the VIA ide port, and i cant seem to get ATA100 going.

I have installed the latest 4 in 1 drivers. And when i go to install the bus master drivers it will lock up when i restart. I cant enable DMA. When i tick it in the system properties when i restart the box becomes unticked.

i currently have bios version 1002A-1 would it work if i updated my BIOS. And if i hve to update it would it void my warranty?

please help.

Give the 1003 or 1004 BIOS a shot. I use 1004_2D, the beta, but have used each. There's a nice BIOS flashing utility from Asus that you can use to flash from within Windows, which is convenient. It also tells you which BIOS you are currently using and its date.

Additionally, download and install the new v4.31 Via 4 in 1 Drivers from www.viahardware.com or www.viatech.com and install them to fix the 686b Bug.

As the gentleman above mentions, do install the new W2K SP2 if using W2K.
