I worked on a guys computer a Asus K7V, Reformated and upgraded the bios, Put a 24/10/40 Plextor in it and he called me and said it is just beeping with no picture so I told him to bring it back and I would look at it, I hooked it up and it just set their and beeped no picture or bootup, I thought short some place or the power supply, I looked and the processor had come lose at one end so I told him it might have shorted something out, He told me to just put a good mainboard and a bigger processor in so I put a A7V133 with no raid and a 1gig 266 processor with a SK-6 heatsink, Checked his power supply a pc power and cooling 270 watt and it was over 5 volt and over 3.3 but was a little under on the 12 volt and I couldn't find any short and used papper washer to make sure formatted it and told him I think it is running fine well now it locks up a lot and when he trys to burn a cd it just sets their and locks and when he tried to install a joy stick it wouldn't take, I took his old mainboard and processor and put it in a case and it has run here fine for the last 3 days so I don't know

270 W PSU is not enough for an A7V133. Try 350w or more and see what happens. Given the fact that his old stuff now works fine in another case, that should be a clue right there..The 270watter could be going bad.

it locks up a lot when he is trying to burn, this is probably a software issue, i assume he's using windows .. no surprise there, that its lockin up (heh sorry, couldnt resist) .. what OS is using, what is he using to burn, what else is running .. most likely its a software/os issue ..

Well he is running windows me and I know windows is not the greatest but I run windows me and xp and have no problem, He is using 502 roxio platinum the same as me and I have no problem, I don't think it is a software issue, I keep thinking a short or power supply even though it is showing that it is good just wanted to throw it around a little to see if anyone has had this problem, I have built a few A7V133's and everyone has been stable so far, Their is no games or anything other than a printer running on the system

My A7V133 runned on a 250W, a 235W, and now on a 200W psu.
With a duron inside and 2 hdds, 3 cdrs, up to 4 cards, usb mouse and printer. Maybe not so stable at times. Now with an xp1600 1 hdd and 1 cdr, no probls on the 200W. Maybe something faulty of that particular psu.
Or the other guy playing too much with wrong settings/programs.
