Hi...I moved my V5 5500 pci from my bx o/c piii system...to my 1.2GHZ amd system I just built...I have had major problems with this videocard...
I did get it to run once NOLF for 45 min...then I foolish rearranged my pci cards because I thought this was affecting my o/cing....since that time I have not gotten the card to run a hardware accel games...NOLF(D3D) or Alice(OpenGl), Voodoolights screensaver(run in glide)...
Interestingly the only way it ran was when it was in slot 3 or 4( can not remeber)..and my NIC was in slot2 and SB live live was in slot 1...
I rearranged to so that
nic slot1
sb live slot3
V5 slot 4...
then
V5 slot 1
sb live slot 3
nic slot 4
Anyway..it lockups up no matter what..I used older drivers last WQHL and Betas, changed settings but no go...I have done these configurations with clean W98SE and WinMe installs. I would test directx and hardware accel would lockup unless via chipset in drivers was set to compatable
It could be me...but it seems to be the V5...I had a g400 in my other system and everything is fine with G400..
I have given up on the V5....I am very sad I loved this card for gaming may not the fastest but great image...I can run NOLF almost as fast with the G400 16mg...
This is my experience...I assume it has to do with drivers and the newer KT133a...I also think the power consumption is part of the problem....
With the V5 1.2@1.386(146 fsb) 2d can not run any hardware accel. 3D
with the G400 1.2@1.4(147 fsb) I can run 2D/3D hardware...stable
Is anyone else finding problems with the AGP version??? or PCI version???
