A7V133 and SBLiveValue

Ok, I've gotten everything to work with this board. Even my 3com NIC. But, this damned SBLive card just wont work. If anyone owns this board and has installed the SBLIVE card successfully please tell me how you did it.

Ok, here's the setup.

- IBM ATA100 on the Promise Controller
- 2 CD Roms on the Regular IDE Controller
- Radeon in AGP Slot
- 3Com NIC in Slot3 (The only one that it will work in)
- WinMe (latest Drivers)

Everything works real good with this setup.

When you add the SBLive to the mix, all hell breaks loose. The system will just constantly freeze up. Its unuseable. Ive tried putting the card in slots 1,2,4,5

Slot 1. Wont work at all.
Slot 2. Shared w/Promise
Slot 4. Will install, but system very unstable - Locks up constantly
Slot 5. Same as Slot 4.

This is killing me. I've wasted a bunch of time trying to get this to work.

Thanks for any help

Mine's working fine. It's in PCI slot 2, sharing an IRQ with the Promise controller, which reminds me, I've gotta move it.

I have the EXACT setup as you; Radeon, 75 GXP on the Promise, DVD and CDR on the primary/secondary IDE, 3com Nic (slot 3)

Nope, no go with the NIC on 4. The systems totally unusable in that state. I put the card in two and dedicated irq5 for legacy in the bios. Its up and running but sharing the slot with the promise controller. I just waiting for it to crash. Ill keep my fingers crossed.

Are you running the same setup with the Nic in 4 and the Live in 3 ?

Ok, ill try it again because I am reluctant to leave the card sharing with the promise controller.

Here goes

My order...

AGP-Radeon 64 VIVO
Slot1-2940UW (set to IRQ 10 in bios)
Slot2-SB live (set to IRQ 5 in bios)
Slot3-3com Nic (set to IRQ 11 in bios)
Slot4-SupraMax (set to IRQ 3 in bios)

Works flawless... check the sig... 🙂

Good luck dude...

It just wont work any other way for me but the Live in 2 and the Nic in 3. Any other combination produces lock ups. I guess I'll just have to share with the promise controller and hope for the best.

Is it possible to force the IRQ settings in BIOS and put the SBLIVE in slot 4 or 5 ?

I have already reserved IRQ5 for legacy devices because, apparently, the SBLive needs two IRQ and there is no ISA slot on this MB.

I think ive resolved the problem.

I put the nic in 3 and the Live in 4.
reserved irq5 for legacy devices

The card would lock up the system on irq3 (i dont know why). I forced slot 4 to use irq7 in the bios (only 3,7 and12 were free).

viola, stable as a rock. No lockups. No sharing with promise controller. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for everyones help, I really appreciate it.

And on another note - please remember if you are not using Com1 Com2 and LPT1 to diable those in BIOS and allocate those IRQs to the trouble spots.
My suggestions:
PCI 1 = 11
PCI 2 = 3
PCI 3 = 10 (usually SBLive)
PCI 4 = 7
and leave the rest to WINBlows. My NIC goes quite confortably in 4/5 most of the time. I use the A7V, P3V4X and CUBX all with NICs & SBLive.
I tried the A7V133 BIOS on the A7V (u read right) and it still did not cure the problems of the A7V (problems have been carried over to the A7V133) so I guess I will be moving to te Iwill or MSI 133A boards.
