A7V with duron 600 wont go past ata100 bios initialization

I just put together a temporary computer with the A7V board. When I turn it on it seems to start booting until the ata100 bios initialization at which everything stops and does not go anywhere. Also when I try to enter the regular bios setup using the del key, all I get is a black screen. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thank You in advance

I had a problem like this, it took like 3 minutes to detect the hard drive. I don't remember how I fixed it. Maybe I updated the 4-1 drivers

What version is your bios and do you have any drives hooked to the ATA 100 controller?

I don't remember which but either 1004 or 1005 updated the promise bios and added a feature to turn off the promise chip if you are not using it to speed up booting.
