Hi I am trying to install Win2k on a T-Bird system

The system is configured as followed:

Primary IDE : Maxtor 7200 HD (master) (c:,d:,e:,f:)
Secondary IDE : Memorex 48x CD-ROM (master)
Plextor 8/4/32 CD-R (slave)

Primay ATA100 IDE : empty
Secondary ATA100 IDE : empty

After Win2k copied the files, finished the basic set up (time zone..), install network.
Right after it asked for typical network, not with a workgroup.. it will stall loading and install some files.
Half way through, it will ask for the CD-ROM again. "Please insert the floppy called Win2k ... CD-ROM" It will display the G: drive (CD drive) and the file name. But what is weird is that it dosn't show the CD-ROM. So it was unable to loading the files off the CD.

Can anyone help me out here?

This is a known problem with Win2k and a7v. Its a problem with the secondary ide controller on the a7v. The solution is to download at least rev 1004 of the bios and that will fix it. Or you can do what I did the first time, put your cdrom on the secondary slave and install. It shouldnt disappear if you do this.

Yep. This is an issue with the 1003 BIOS. You can either upgrade to 1004 or downgrade to 1002. Only difference I noticed was that the newer one adds to the temperature reading to make it more 'correct'.

As for moving your CD, I would advise putting it on your primary IDE (ATA66). I have heard of some people having problems booting off the ATA100 when they have devices on the secondary IDE. (never had this happen to myself though).
