I've just reinstalled win2k and since my primary ide controller is a little flaky, I've installed my HD and cd drives onto the built-in promise ata100 controller. Installed the newest via 4in1's except for the via ide controllers since I had heard they suck. Installed the promise controller drivers and everything seems to work fine, except, whenever I shutdown or reboot, as the windows screen says its shutting down, the hd spins down and back up 3 times. Then reboots. I've disabled the via ide controller, and disabled power management in win2k. I've read posts of similar problems but no solutions. Anybody have an idea?
 
I had similar problem with promise ata-100 controller under win98, it works perfecly under linux thought.I suspect that there's sth wrong with promise drivers for windozes...
